This weekend I wrote this rondo for flute, violin, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar. The recurring section (slightly altered each time) is based on a melody by Turlough O’Carolan and is from his piece entitled “Carolan’s Receipt.” I’m not sure how to get the music program I’m using to simulate the sound of guitar strumming, so this is as close as I can get for now. The form of the piece is [A][B][A1][C][A2][B1][A]. The highest voice and main melody in the last A is unchanged from before, but the lower voice (the fiddle) plays a motif that first occurs in the C section.
